Support Through Insurance Challenges

Though storm damage is common in Oklahoma, many homeowners still struggle to get the full benefit they’re due from their homeowner’s insurance policies. When working with the Hunters, our goal was to help them get the full insurance benefit that they were entitled to so they could make all of their necessary home repairs.

Work We Did

New Roof with Ice and Water Barrier

Fence Repair

New Gutters

After a big hail storm that damaged his roof, fence, and gutters, Jeremiah Hunter reached out to our company for a roof inspection. Like most of the homeowners in his neighborhood, the damage was enough to warrant a full roof replacement. Our team got to work documenting the damage and preparing the claim so we could submit the paperwork and photos to his insurance company.

Though storm damage is common in Oklahoma, many homeowners still struggle to get the full benefit they’re due from their homeowner’s insurance policies. When working with the Hunters, our goal was to help them get the full insurance benefit that they were entitled to so they could make all of their necessary home repairs.

When You Have Insurance But Don’t Feel Covered

When the insurance adjuster came to the house, he initially only identified part of the damage. Luckily, we had thorough documentation of the full damage and worked with the adjuster to cover everything, including a natural wood fence that needed repairs.

Like many other homeowners, the Hunters struggled with delays in their insurance payment due to the pandemic and restricted access to their insurance company’s team. Luckily, their project manager, Zac Lindsey, is tenacious and makes sure that homeowners get the insurance payments they deserve.

“The process of getting our payment and getting the check endorsed by mail was a headache,” said Jeremiah. “COVID threw a wrench into the process because people were only available in the [insurance company] office at limited times.”

The Hunters were worried that they’d have to pay for the new roof out of pocket while they waited for their insurance payment to come through. However, their Project Manager, Zac, made diligent calls to the insurance company to keep the project on track.

“Zac’s knowledge and experience with the industry were really helpful so I could understand what to expect with a paper check. He helped put me at ease throughout the project,” said Jeremiah.

Material Price Increases

When there are delays in processing an insurance claim, homeowners can sometimes face material price increases.

Because his insurance company took a couple of months to approve the claim and there were nationwide material shortages, the price of his new roof went up by the time we ordered it. Our team was determined to limit Jeremiah’s financial burden to just his insurance deductible, so we worked with the insurance company to adjust the claim.

In the end, we were successful. Jeremiah now has:

  • Owens Corning Duration Flex Driftwood 50-year shingles

  • An asphalt starter course to protect against wind-driven rain along the perimeter of the roof

  • An ice and water barrier for extra protection against ice damming

  • A brand new guttering system

The best part? He paid nothing out of pocket except his deductible.
