What to Expect When You Work with 1907
Picture this: You just survived the storm of the decade. The next morning, you go outside to assess the damage to your home. There are a few downed branches in the yard, the siding on your house is a bit beat up, and your fence has seen better days. You wonder about how your roof fared, but you’re due at work, so you push it to the back of your mind.
A couple of weeks later, it rains again and you notice a small water spot on your living room ceiling. It’s time to call a roofer to see how bad the damage is.
So, what should you expect from your roofer? Read on to find out how we approach new roofing projects with our customers.
What To Expect as a 1907 Customer
1. Schedule a Roof Inspection
The first step of any project is a free roof inspection so we can assess the damage.
Some homeowners worry about having people on their roofs. It’s true that carelessness can cause more damage, but our team is experienced and takes precautions to avoid damage. For example, we wear special footwear, make sure not to drag our feet across your shingles, and carefully select where to step.
2. Prepare Inspection Report
While we’re on your roof, we take photos to document the condition of each area we inspect. We then compile the photos and our findings into a report that we share with you.
3. File the Claim
If we find damage on your roof that requires more than a simple repair, we’ll recommend that you file a claim with your insurance provider.
Getting your claim approved can sometimes be tricky. Many homeowners begin the process by calling their insurance agent, but their primary role is to sell policies, not manage claims. You actually need to reach out to the claims department of your insurance provider.
Unlike most roofers, our project managers will join you while you call the claims department. They often have questions about the storm date, the extent of the damage, roof materials, and more that we can help you answer.
4. Meet the Adjuster
Our project manager will be at your home when the Insurance Adjuster comes to inspect it. We take this extra step because we can make sure they take note of all of the damage we found. We can also discuss the replacement cost value of the project to be sure that your claim is approved for the full amount of repairs that you need.
After this, a Claim Handler usually takes over. Sometimes they request photos if the adjuster missed something during his or her assessment. Since we take photos during the inspection, we can quickly provide them to the Handler to keep your claim moving along.
5. Insurance Approves Your Claim
You should get a notification from your insurance provider confirming whether your claim was approved.
6. Choose Your Roof Materials
Once your claim is approved, it’s time to select your new roofing materials.
Keep in mind that there’s more to a roof than just shingles. (Check out our article on picking the right material for your new roof to learn more about your options). We have a high-quality roofing system that we usually recommend, but we’re also happy to install any roofing system that you prefer.
7. Schedule an Installation Date
We’ll get you on our calendar as quickly as possible for your new roof.
8. Roof Install/Repair Day(s)
For many homes, we’re able to complete a full roof replacement in just one day.
While we’re at your home, we’ll treat it as if it were our own. That means we won’t trample your flower beds or destroy your grass. We’ll tidy up after ourselves as we work and do a very thorough clean-up at the end of the day. We have a large magnet that we use to collect any rogue nails so it’s safe for you and your family to be outside after we’re done.
9. New Roof Inspection
Our last step is to do a post-installation inspection to be sure that our work meets our high standards. At this time, we’ll walk you around the house to show you what we did and let you check the quality of our work yourself. If you have any questions or concerns, we’ll make sure to address them.
